Teaching and learning at TIK

TIK sees itself not only as a developer and pioneer of e-learning infrastructures, but also as a teacher and promoter of the IT specialists of tomorrow.

Student research projects and theses at TIK

Whether student research projects, bachelor's or master's theses: TIK regularly offers students projects in the research areas of the individual departments.

Student and research assistants

We offer students the opportunity to work on subject-specific and interdisciplinary projects as part of student and research assistantships. We are always on the lookout for committed assistants for user advice or to support the TIK departments.

Linux certificate courses

As part of key qualifications (SQ), students also have the opportunity to obtain certificates from the Linux Professional Institute (LPI).

The course covers the contents of the LPIC - Essentials Curriculum of the Linux Professional Institute.

The goal of the Linux Essentials Certificate is to define the basic knowledge necessary to competently use a Linux operating system on a desktop computer system or mobile device. The associated Linux Essentials program will help young people and those new to Linux and open source understand the place of Linux and open source in the larger context of the IT industry.

The course covers the contents of the LPIC - 1 of the Linux Professional Institute.

The aim of the Linux Essentials Certificate is to define the basic knowledge required to competently set up and administer a Linux operating system on a desktop computer system or on a server. This provides an introduction to the administration of Unix (Linux) systems. The course is designed as a supervised exercise in which the questions from the script are clarified and deepened during the classroom sessions. Whether small computers, desktops or virtual machines, you can use the tools from the course to set up and adequately operate your own servers.

Network Security - Lecture

In the winter semester, TIK offers an English-language lecture on network security. Students of electrical engineering and information technology can take this as an early Master's module in the Bachelor's program. In the Master's degree, the lecture is available as an elective module for the degree programs in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Mechatronics, Electromobility and Computational Linguistics.
